"Take the scripture and turn its leaves"

In January 2006 the Russian State Duma took the decision to hand over to Hungary the books removed from the Sárospatak Library. The Sárospatak Library consists of 134 volumes. Before World War II it belonged to the Sárospatak Calvinist College of the Tisza Diocese of the Hungarian Reformed Church in Budapest. It fell into the hands of the 49th Army, so the books landed in the U.S.S.R., where the trophy collection became part of the Nizhny Novgorod research library.
After more than 60 years, the books were restituted by Russia and returned to Hungary at the end of February. The exhibition called "Take the scripture and turn its leaves" hosted by the Hungarian National Museum presents a real unique collection of books.

The glass cabinets and show cases are protected with Security Window Film, applied by Persecutor Security Ltd. The application assures maximum protection without influencing the visibility of exhibited books and makes possible that professionals feel safe and secure the values entrusted to them.
